These were fantastic.ĭinner also had some standouts. The jerk seasoning and citrus marinade were beautifully paired and better yet is the two-step cooking technique (baking and then grilling) that creates a mahogany color and crisp-but-tender skin. We bailed on the goat cheese the minute the Jamaican Grilled Jumbo Chicken Wings ($10.49) arrived. It was supposed to be served hot but came to the table room temperature and oddly accented with tomato salsa. The Creole Baked Goat Cheese ($9.79) was dull, with seasoned goat cheese served in halved red peppers. Warm Cuban bread provided dipping options. A hot skillet came to the table filled with large shrimp bubbling away in a garlic-thyme butter sauce. Starting out, we enjoyed the Fire-Roasted Jerk Shrimp ($9.99). Inside is cool and welcoming, with comfortable booths, pecan-colored tables and tasteful wicker. The outdoor tables are small and while the music is pleasant, it gets loud. We opted for a table outside, but next time, I'll head indoors. With icy beers in hand, paddle fans overhead and reggae-infused live music, this was no hardship. We wrapped ourselves in the "don't worry, be happy" island vibe and took a seat on the outdoor patio. All of the parking lots were full, and all were on a wait. We checked out the new Bahama Breeze and while we were waiting - 35 minutes - I checked out four nearby restaurants. If there is a recession going on, you would never know it by the crowds waiting for restaurant tables on a recent Tuesday night. Apparently, reality is suspended the minute you exit Butler Boulevard for the Town Center.
